Where your data lives

FrugalVue isn't one big service that holds every household's money. Each household gets its own site with its own database. Account numbers are kept as the last four digits, secrets such as the bank connection are encrypted, and only the people the owner adds can sign in.

What FrugalVue never does

  • Sell or share your data, or show you offers paid for by advertisers.
  • Use tracking cookies or trackers to follow you, in the app or on this site.
  • Move money. The bank connection is read-only.
  • See your bank passwords. You connect banks on SimpleFIN Bridge's own site.
  • Send your data to AI you didn't choose. AI is optional, with your own key.

Private doesn't mean bare

You still get what a household needs from a budgeting app: every account in one view, 12–14 months of history from day one, budgets built from what you really spent with giving planned first, recurring bills found for you, monthly cash flow, loans and a payoff planner, expense reports with receipts, and a short email each morning.

Is FrugalVue self-hosted?

Each household gets its own FrugalVue site and database. We can host it for you, or help you run it on your own hosting.

What can FrugalVue see at my bank?

Balances and transactions for the accounts you choose on SimpleFIN Bridge, read-only. It can't move money, and you connect your banks on SimpleFIN Bridge's own site, so FrugalVue never sees your bank passwords.

Does it use AI on my data?

Only if you add your own Gemini, Claude or OpenAI key. Without one, FrugalVue works fully on its own. With one, only what each question needs is sent to the provider you chose.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. You can export a full backup any time, and a household can move its FrugalVue to new hosting with it.
